The probate process should be a streamlined and efficient one.
There are many techniques under Maryland probate that could make the
process rather simple and less cumbersome. One recent innovation is
“Modified Administration” which essentially provides for a
self-supervised administration, with little court intervention. There
are other time-saving techniques in handling the administrative process
and we would be happy to assist you in this regard. While the major
overhaul of the Maryland inheritance tax provided significant tax
savings in the distribution of assets in a Maryland estate, the new
Maryland estate tax enacted in 2004 may generate more tax, particularly
for those who fail to plan accordingly. Finally, with proper advice,
the re-titling of assets from the decedent to the decedent’s
beneficiaries should be a process that is efficient, streamlined and as
painless as possible.
